DROWNED AT POINT EDWARD

A Young Man Meets a Watery Grave on Sunday

Was Bathing and Sank Before His Companions Eyes

An unfortunate drowning accident happened at Point Edward Sunday afternoon, by which a young man named Robert Leslie Wagg, lost his life. About two o'clock, in company with Jn. Barker, of this town, Wagg went in for a swim and must have been seized with cramps as he sank after being in the water only a few minutes. Barker gave the alarm at once and comrades from the steamer United Empire, of the Northwest Transportation Company's line, recovered the body after it had been under water about twenty minutes, but the spark of life could not be revived. Deceased was aged about 22 years and his home is at Sanilac Centre, Mich. He is a nephew of Simon Stover of this town. The unfortunate young man was employed as a fireman on the United Empire.

After the body had been recovered every means possible were used to resusitate the unfortunate young man, but without avail. The body was later on taken to the undertaking rooms of G. L. Phillips on Victoria Street, where it was prepared for burial.
